  • Read 1 Samuel 27-28:2 out loud together

    • Invite a few people to read the verses for the week

  • Go through the Discussion Questions:

    • Don’t feel like you need to get through them all

    • Use the ones that are the most helpful in stirring up meaningful conversation

  • Make sure you save enough time to pray together

    • Share prayer requests

    • Pray for one another

    • Thank God for the ways He’s answered the prayers of the group lately

    • Invite the Holy Spirit to speak through you as you wait on Him

Discussion Questions:

  • When was the last time you came to the end of yourself and said, I can’t do this anymore?

  • Do you recognize the difference between seeking relief and seeking peace in your own life?

  • What problems arise from pursuing relief instead of pursuing peace?

  • How do we grow in faith and protect ourselves from making the same mistake as David in 1 Samuel 27?

    • What truth do you need to speak to your heart today?

    • Have you brought it to God, searched His Word, and brought it to godly counselors?

    • What is the next faithful step you need to take?

Application

Choose to pursue peace instead of relief in your life this week. Respond to the circumstances of your life this week with:

1) Speaking truth to your heart

2) Bring it to God and godly counselors

3) Take a next faithful step

Proverbs 3:5–6 (ESV)

5           Trust in the Lord with all your heart,

and do not lean on your own understanding.

6           In all your ways acknowledge him,

and he will make straight your paths.
