Suggested Outline for Your Group: 

  • Share “God Stories” 

    • Share testimonies of where you have seen God working in your life lately. 

  • Read 1 John 5:6-13 out loud together 

    • Invite a one person to read the verses for the week 

  • Go through the Discussion Questions: 

    • Don’t feel like you need to get through them all 

    • Use the ones that are the most helpful in stirring up meaningful conversation 

  • Make sure you save enough time to pray together 

    • Share prayer requests 

    • Pray for one another 

    • Thank God for the ways He’s answered the prayers of the group lately 

    • Invite the Holy Spirit to speak through you as you wait on Him 

 

Discussion Questions: 

 

  • What area of your life do find yourself acting like the little league parent, letting something temporary and un-important take control of your attitude, attention, and life?

  • Pastor Zach shared three questions on Sunday, share your personal responses to the questions

    • How can we have know the we have eternal life? (Read John 14:1-3)

    • What does it mean to, "have the Son?"  (Read Romans 8:28, 34-35)

    • How do we come to the Son? (Read 1 John 5:12-13 again)

  • Discuss the three ways of rejecting the son that Pastor Zach mentioned on Sunday. Which are you most tempted to say?

    • "I can handle it on my own" (Romans 14:7-9)

    • "I'm too far gone" (1 Timothy 1:15-16)

    • "I want help but I won't give up control" (Psalm 37:5)

 

Application

What is troubling your heart today? Speak that to God and ask Him to bring comfort with the truth that Jesus is preparing a place for you and will come for you.
