Who We Are

Calvary Chapel Petaluma is a body of believers in Petaluma, California who desire to grow in the knowledge and grace of our great God, walking with Jesus and being filled by His Spirit.

There are a lot of ideas of what a church should be and we believe that the best concepts come from God’s word. As we remember that the church does not belong to men, but to God, we realize that His intentions were shared by Jesus, seen in the Acts of the Apostles and sealed in the Epistles to the early church.

Who we are:

We are a Building

“…upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18)

“Ye also, as living stones, are built up a spiritual house.” (1 Peter 2:5)

We are a Body

“Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.”
(1 Corinthians 12:27)

We are the Bride of Christ

“For I have espoused you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.” (2 Corinthians 11:2)

What we do:

We believe that the model for the early church is found in Acts 2. The Spirit is poured out, the gospel is preached, and souls will be pardoned. Then, as the church gathers together, we continue steadfastly in the Word, Fellowship, Communion, and Prayer. (Acts 2:42)

Why do we do these things:

Ephesians 4:11-13 tells us that God’s vision for the church is for the, “perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” The primary use of the church is to equip, edify, and perfect the saints that they might go out and, “let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in Heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)

May God pour out His blessings on us as we become the Building, the Body, and the Bride that He desires. Growing in the knowledge and Grace of Jesus as we are made into His image. (Romans 8:29)
